The Experience
Now in its 48th year, the Huntsville Half Marathon is a well-established fixture in Alabama's running calendar. This race is designed for speed, featuring a flat and fast course through South Huntsville that's ideal for setting personal bests or for those training for longer distances.
Runners can expect reliable support, with aid stations every two miles providing essentials like water, nutrition, and restrooms, complemented by entertainment along the route. The Huntsville Track Club, presenting the event, ensures a well-organized experience, including traffic control and clear signage. The event typically draws participants from around 14 states, with about a quarter returning year after year, highlighting its loyal following.
While not a large-scale event, with around 465 finishers, the Huntsville Half Marathon provides a rewarding experience. Participants receive a quality t-shirt and a uniquely designed medal, with post-race amenities including food and stretching services. It’s a no-frills, affordable option that delivers on the core elements runners appreciate.
