The Experience
The Southeast Slosh, hosted by the Ketchikan Running Club, invites participants to a unique trail half marathon set against the stunning Alaskan landscape. Starting and finishing at Ward Lake, the course winds through diverse trails including Perseverance Lake Trail, Ward Creek Trail, Pipeline, and Salvage.
This challenging yet rewarding course offers a true trail running experience. With aid stations strategically placed along the route, runners have ample support. The event welcomes both individual runners and relay teams, with a generous 5-hour time limit that accommodates walkers, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of participants.
Now in its second year, the Southeast Slosh provides a memorable race day in Ketchikan. Participants receive a distinctive pint glass as a memento of their accomplishment, celebrating the spirit of adventure and the beauty of Southeast Alaska.

And so it starts - The Southeast Slosh! Join us for Ketchikan Running Club's Second Annual Trail Half Marathon on Saturday July 11th. The race will start and finish at Ward Lake and incorporate surrounding trails including Perseverance Lake Trail, Ward Creek Trail, Pipeline and Salvage. There will be 4 aide stations along the route. All racers will have 5 hours to finish the race. (That is about a 21:30 minute mile - plenty of time for walkers!) After the cut-off time, racers can finish the course, however aide station support and finish line celebration cannot be guaranteed. This year, we are introducing a sliding scale for our registration pricing: March 24, 2026 - May 11, 2026: $30 (+processing fee); $20 (+processing fee) for Ketchikan Running Club Members
May 12, 2026 - June 11, 2026: $40 (+processing fee); $30 (+processing fee) for Ketchikan Running Club Members
June 12, 2026 - July 9, 2026: $50 (+processing fee); $40 (+processing fee) for Ketchikan Running Club Members Individual runners, as well as relay teams (up to 4 runners in a team), are welcome to register. Each team is responsible for determining where they will start and finish each leg of the relay. Bib pick-up will be at the Ketchikan Rec Center - Friday, July 10th from 5-7 PM. There will be registration at Ward Lake, but it will be cash only. Please follow trail etiquette, stay on the trail, please don't litter, be respectful of other trail users, and have fun! **Ketchikan Running Club has been granted a Special Use Permit through the Tongass National Forest Service to make this race possible**
