The Experience

The Skinny Raven Half & 10K transforms Anchorage's Park Strip into a summer celebration of running. Starting and finishing at the Rose Garden, the course takes runners along popular trails, offering glimpses of Denali and the scenic Cook Inlet. This mid-summer event, now in its fifth year, typically sees around 713 finishers, with recent editions growing to over 1,300.

The race course is predominantly paved and features a mix of trails and roads, including a section paralleling the airport. While some reviews mention rolling hills and inclines, particularly at the end, the overall consensus points to a manageable challenge. Spectators and volunteers contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, with aid stations offering Skratch and water.

Post-race, participants are rewarded with a box lunch, Double Shovel cider, and refreshments in the Rose Garden, creating a festive party finish. The event draws runners from across the country, with about 20% returning each year, highlighting its appeal as a destination race with a strong local community feel.
