The Experience
Set at the Arizona Nordic Village, the Flagstaff Marathon series winds through the Coconino National Forest. Runners navigate single and double-track trails amidst ponderosa pines and aspens, at an elevation exceeding 8,000 feet. This unique off-road setting offers a cool escape, with typical race-day temperatures ranging from the high 40s to upper 60s Fahrenheit.
The event, first run in 2006 and now in its 18th year, benefits CCC Athletics. While the half marathon is a popular draw, the series also includes a full marathon, 10K, and Kids Kilo. The half marathon typically sees around 189 finishers, with a growing field size and approximately 10% of participants returning in subsequent years. Runners have recently traveled from about 17 states to experience this distinctive Arizona race.
