Race-provided description
The Scott Sterrett Memorial Race Weekend returns on Saturday, November 7th, 2026. We are continuing the traditions you love: 5K, 10K, scenic Half Marathon, Hero Bibs, and incredible race swag! Scott Sterrett was a reserve officer for the City of Cedar Falls beginning in May of 2005. Scott was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church. He was an avid runner participating in 23 marathons total, the Boston Marathon twice, and the Chicago and Dallas Marathons multiple times. In addition to his passion for running, Scott had a passion for being a reserve officer with the Cedar Falls Police Department and serving his community. In 2018, Scott passed away after a fight with pancreatic cancer. This event is dedicated to Scott. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be put into a scholarship for local seniors who plan to pursue a career as a first responder. Our goal for this event is to continue to build a strong relationship between the community and those that serve us every day.
