The Experience

Acadiana's oldest half-marathon, the Cajun Country Run, invites runners to Lafayette, Louisiana, for a scenic race experience. Since its inception in 2002, the event has grown to offer multiple distances, including a USATF-certified half marathon, 10K, and 5K road races, alongside 5K and 10K trail options. The half marathon, now a single-loop, all-road course, is designed for speed and certified by USATF, making it a draw for those seeking a personal best.

The event, which has seen around 142 finishers in recent years, draws participants from approximately nine states. A portion of the proceeds supports TRAIL's efforts in Acadiana Park & Nature Station. Runners can expect a course that winds through Acadiana Park, with the trail races offering technical sections along the Vermilion River. The unique, homemade alligator head trophies are a hallmark of this community-focused event.

The hallmark of the CCR is the home made alligator head trophies, compliments of Cajun Ben   The original half marathon course was a double loop course that included 4 miles of cross country running.  In 2014 we changed the half marathon course to an all road single loop course and got it certified by the USATF.  Proceeds from the CCR have allowed T.R.A.I.L. to  do work in and around Acadiana Park.  In 2012 T.R.A.I.L. purchased property to add to the Acadiana Park & Nature Station.  TRAIL has also help fund some improvements to the mountain bike trail system built and maintained by Mountain Bike Lafayette.   Find out more at www.LATRAIL.org
