The Experience

The Strider Half Marathon, first run in 2009 and now in its 15th edition, offers a late summer escape through Milwaukee's Estabrook Park. With a median field size of around 475 finishers, this event draws runners from approximately 20 states, a testament to its enduring appeal, with about a third of participants returning year after year.

The course begins and ends at the Estabrook Park beer garden, winding through the park before venturing onto the predominantly shaded Oak Leaf Trail bike path. This path, bordered by woods and bushes, provides a welcome respite from the sun and creates an immersive, natural feel, even within the city limits. The relatively flat terrain and ~0 ft elevation change make it a forgiving route for many.

Post-race, participants are treated to a festive atmosphere at the beer garden, complete with a hot breakfast, beverages, beer, and music. The race is well-organized, with a recent rating of 4.00 for production, ensuring a smooth experience for the ~475 finishers who typically take part.
