The Experience

The Beartooth Run claims the title of the highest 5k/10k road race in the US, with its half-marathon course starting at an impressive 10,500 feet and reaching up to 11,000 feet. Runners can expect a breathtaking drive to the start line before tackling a course that promises stunning views of wildflowers, high mountain plateaus, and glaciers. The high-altitude environment and challenging terrain are balanced by the sheer beauty of the Beartooth Mountains, with the chance to spot wildlife like mountain goats.

This event, now in its 3rd edition, draws participants from approximately 8 states, showcasing its appeal as a destination race. While the course is noted for its significant elevation, the focus is on the unparalleled scenery. The race welcomes all ages and abilities, with walkers encouraged on the 5k. Spectators have designated viewing areas at the start/finish, making it a memorable event for both runners and their supporters.

Race-provided description

If you thought the drive was scenic.... The 56th Annual Beartooth Run is back on top as the highest 5k/10k road race in the US (sorry all you Half-ers, Pikes Peak ascent goes higher)! Enjoy a breathtaking drive up the Beartooth Pass before the race course takes your breath away! Each race starts at 10,500 and tops out at 11,00ft. The only thing that will make you forget you're running uphill at high elevation are the views of wild flowers, high mountain plateaus, glaciers, and maybe mountain goat or two! All ages and abilities are welcome. $15 kid registration. Walkers are welcome on the 5k course. While dogs are strollers aren't welcome on the course, we have great spots at the start/finish for spectating!
