The Experience

The Valley Bottom Rio Trio, now in its 6th year, is an adventure-style triathlon held in Alamosa, Colorado, as part of the city's vibrant Riofest celebration. This unique event challenges participants across three disciplines: an 8-mile trail bike ride, a 3-mile paddle on the Rio Grande, and a 5k-plus run.

Runners can tackle the entire course solo or form a 3-person relay team. The race is fully chip-timed, ensuring accuracy for all competitors. Following the event, participants can enjoy an outdoor awards ceremony and lunch provided by local food vendors, all within the festive atmosphere of Riofest, which includes live music, craft vendors, and an outdoor expo.

A kids' race is also offered the following day, making it a family-friendly weekend of activity. Participants have the option to bring their own watercraft or rent kayaks and standup paddleboards, though availability is limited.
