The Experience

The Akahai Half Marathon, now in its fifth year, unfolds along Oahu's picturesque Leeward Coast, starting from the resort destination of Wai Kai. Runners will experience a flat and fast course, ideal for setting personal bests, with spectacular views of the Hoakalei Country Club and the Ernie Els-designed golf course, a former host of the LPGA LOTTE Championship.

The race embraces the natural beauty of the island, offering vistas of Nimitz Beach. With typical race-day temperatures ranging from 68–80°F, the conditions are generally favorable for a comfortable run. While the median field size is around 112 finishers, the event has seen recent growth, attracting approximately 175 runners from about 24 states.

This event is designed to create lasting memories, combining athletic challenge with the breathtaking scenery that Hawaii is known for. It provides a unique opportunity to race in a tropical paradise, making it a memorable experience for participants.
