The Experience

The Waterville Marathon Running Festival, organized by the Maine Endurance Sports Alliance, is a beloved fixture in central Maine. First run in 2002, this event has grown into a significant running celebration, now in its 20th year, attracting runners from across the region.

The half marathon course is a certified, flat loop that winds through the picturesque countryside of Waterville, Sydney, and Oakland. With minimal elevation change, it’s designed to be a fast and forgiving route, making it a prime spot for runners aiming for personal bests or Boston Marathon qualifying times.

The atmosphere is a blend of community spirit and competitive energy. Spectators line parts of the route, offering encouragement, while the finish line at Thomas College buzzes with activity. Runners can expect a well-supported race with ample aid stations and a festive post-race environment, including a vendor area, making it a great destination for families.
