The Experience

The High Uinta Half Marathon winds through the stunning natural beauty of the Wasatch Back, offering a unique escape from summer heat. This point-to-point race begins at a high elevation, with organizers noting that snow can still be present at the start line even in July. The course is predominantly downhill, described as 99% decline for the full 13.1 miles, featuring approximately 2600 feet of descent. Runners can expect to be surrounded by aspens, pines, and rivers, making for a visually striking experience.

While the race is noted for its rapid, net-downhill profile, which is ideal for achieving personal bests, it's also a relatively small-scale production. In recent years, the median field size has been around 128 finishers, growing to approximately 188. Runners typically come from about 16 states, and the repeat-runner loyalty is around 7%. The event, with its 3 editions on record, offers a chance to experience a fast and beautiful course in the heart of Utah's mountains.

Race-provided description

High Uinta Half Marathon is a fast race above Kamas/Francis area.  We reluctantly use the term Drop13 because of what it represents.  Drop13 represents a course that is extremely fast downhill.  This course is 99% decline for 13.1 Miles.  2600 feet of decline with very little incline or even flat portions.  This course is not just fast but beautiful.  Aspens, pines, rivers, are throughout the route.  This route starts at one of the highest elevations in Utah for races.  Last year July 4, the starting point still had snow all around.  This is a great course to get out of the heat and enjoy more of a Spring race in the heart of summer.
